Book Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Taylor Jenkins Reid has won my heart over with her novel “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”. It’s glamorous, heart-wrenching, and scandalous. On the other hand, it shows the reader a completely different side to Hollywood. Despite having 7 husbands, Hugo has a bigger story to tell. Overall, after this book review I hope to convince you to add this read to your 2025 TBR.
Evenly Hugo is an Oscar winning actress who will do anything to leave Hell’s Kitchen. And I mean everything. The most beautiful star in the world received 7 different husbands in her lifetime. Now, she’s ready to tell her story. And by story, I mean her entire truth.
Evelyn Hugo was one of those star celebrities who was always making the tabloids. Nevertheless, headline after headline, Evelyn would never speak directly to the media or really anyone for that matter. Everything was always a mystery with Evelyn. Although, now in her 80’s, Evelyn is ready to do a tell-all. Her only exception is that Monique Grant write her story. And that’s Monique Grant only.
Furthermore, Monique is a writer for a magazine called Vivant. At 7 years old, she lost her father tragically. Yet, here was her one chance, since her father had passed, that she could really make a name for herself. However, the only problem is that Monique must do by Evelyn’s rules. All of them.
By the end of their time together, Evelyn promises Monique she will get every answer to the questions that surround her. How did Evelyn know who Monique was? She was just some girl in her 30’s who writes for her local magazine. Why did she refuse everyone else for her solely? Nonetheless, these were some of the questions that ran through Monique’s head. Meanwhile, she also has problems of her own that she needs answers too. Which is exactly why, she agrees.
Evidently, as weeks pass Evelyn and Monique sit across from each other. One talks, one writes. Will Monique get all of her answers? Or will Evelyn do what she does best. Survive. As a result, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo will win over your hearts, just like it did mine. I couldn’t’ recommend this book more.
